Money $heep was founded by Carrie Wintle in 2016 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on helping youth build a financial foundation from which they can tackle the financial world. From a young age, Carrie was intrigued by money. She loved to watch her savings account grow over time. In fact, instead of having to convince her to save, her parents often had to persuade her to spend some of the money she earned. Her passion for finance flourished when she started studying accounting and finance in college. After completing her undergraduate degree in Accounting and Mathematics, she continues her financial education at Vanderbilt where she is earning her Master’s in Accountancy, Valuation.
Carrie saw an opportunity to use her finance and accounting background to help youth build a base of financial knowledge for themselves. Hence, Money $heep was born.
Money $heep is centered around the Five Foundations of Financial Literacy: budgeting, saving, income, loans/debt, and investment risk. The five foundations were crafted from our founder’s personal experience raising sheep and her continued education in accounting and finance. Our goal is to help youth build a base of financial knowledge that they can use in their individual lives and the economy around them.
